研究方向

本研究室致力於開發合成生物學技術及功能性微生物菌種,並持續關注永續議題,應用微生物於環境及水產養殖等面向。相關代表性研究羅列如下:

1. 替代及降解石化塑料,隨著塑膠污染日益嚴重,特別是難以分解的塑膠微粒已成為全球環境問題,相關研究方向分為,開發替代石化塑料生產原料以及尋找有效降解塑膠廢棄物的方法。本實驗室利用微生物生產生物塑膠原料已發表 3 篇期刊論文,包含建構Polyhydroxybutyrate 生產代謝路徑 [Essays in Biochemistry (2021), 65(2), 337-353; Bioresource Technology Reports (2022), 18, 101048.]、以及利用木質素基質完成噸級發酵生產再生D form lactic acid [Bioresource Technology (2024), 413, 131553.]。開發應用微生物降解技術,不僅能有效減少塑膠微粒的環境累積,還有望將其轉化為可回收再利用的資源。

2. 開發短鏈胜肽微生物工廠及其功能性探討,目前研究著重利用益生菌異源生產蜂毒胜肽,中醫於蜂毒的療效雖有探究但受限於無法量產,為替代天然來源及化學合成方法,微生物生產不僅保護生態及降低環境污染風險,且可達成高產量及高純度生產蜂毒肽於醫療應用。本研究初步已完成蜂毒肽對運動神經元修復及保護的探討及發表 1 篇期刊論文 [Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology (2024), 108, 496.],接著將利用AI 預測蜂毒肽突變體,期望進一步提高功效。

3. 功能性微生物菌種開發及其應用於養殖水產之潛力,與海洋大學團隊合作,輔導養殖蝦業及微生物病原檢測,2021~2024 年與團隊在相關領域指標性期刊已發表 7 篇期刊論文。其中,本實驗室完成篩選開發低碳排且精準健康的益生菌替代飼料、減少使用化學藥劑及降低經營成本等重要永續議題,相關研究發表 2 篇期刊論文 [Scientific Reports (2023), 13:2248; Fish and Shellfish Immunology (2023), 135, 108661.]。後續將進一步探討污染及逆境對養殖水產動物的影響,以及開發利用微生物應對環境污染及極端氣候之策略,期望有效減少塑膠微粒的環境及生物累積,亦可提升蝦類健康及食品安全。
